Uh-Oh. Here Comes the Snow...

Every year, the first snow fall hits and it seems to be all people talk about, at least that's how it is in Minnesota. We see it every year and it's still the number one topic of conversation. It could be because in this state snow comes in all shapes and sizes... light and fluffy, heavy and wet, and today it's in the form of sleet, and it's coming down at an angle.

No matter how prepared you are for the first snow fall, you can never be too prepared especially when you don't know which form the snow is going to fall. There's always things out there that'll help you get through another long winter.

1. Everyone needs a snow blower. Shoveling heavy, wet, 20 inches of snow is not fun for anyone.

2. A good pair of gloves. Scraping off your car at 7am is NOT a good idea without some warm gloves.

3. A good pair of boots. Who wants wet, cold feet?
4. Something to keep your head and ears warm. Preferably, a nice, warm hat.

5. Something to defrost your car windows. Nothing is worse than letting your car warm up forever. Save time and gas with this window defroster.

I'll be doing my best this year to get prepared for the brutal winter that is coming. I'm hoping for a short, minimal snow, kind of winter, but then again I live in Minnesota so that's very doubtful.

What are you going to do to prepare for the snow this year?

Coffee Chaos

Who doesn't love a warm cup of coffee on a dreary fall day? I literally look forward to just cuddling up with a nice mug and drinking a big cup of coffee. Especially days like today, it's cold, rainy, and foggy outside.

When I'm feeling really spontaneous I like to use my espresso machine. It's the best when I have company over too. A good cup of espresso from a coffee shop can get expensive. My espresso machine has a steam wand that perfectly froths milk or dispenses hot water for tea or hot cocoa and all in the comfort of my own home.

But sometimes I just want a regular cup of coffee from the maker that sits on my counter. My Hamilton Beach Coffee Maker is perfect and easy because it has an advanced no-scorch heater that regulates coffee temperature after brewing so it stays at the same temperature it was when it was brewed. Hot coffee, no matter what.

And this year for Christmas I think I'm going to ask for a one cup coffee maker. I've heard they're easier than brewing a whole pot. I found this K Cup Organizer that will work great once I get my maker. This organizer is much nicer than staring K cups in a drawer and it stores up to 30 cups!

Every household needs a coffee maker and everyone needs a pick-me-up every once and a while. Curl up with a blanket this fall and pour yourself a nice hot cup of coffee.

Brrrr...Turn up the heat!

It is a cold one today in Minnesota and it's a reminder of how cold it is really going to get this winter. The temperature is also a reminder of how expensive my heating bill gets during the cold months, and I'm dreading it. Last year I got myself a space heater and that really helped with heating costs.

This year I intend to get another space heater, an even better one...

Like this Premium QIR Heater it not only heats 1500 square feet but it's only $179.99!

Or maybe even this Standard QIR Heater it heats 1000 square feet and it's only $99.99!

And this little Oscillating Space Heater will be perfect at the office!

And this 500W Compact Oil Filled Radiator is only $29.99, how could I go wrong?

Cleaning Products

The best part about the changing seasons is putting away old household decor and pulling out the new stuff. Right now I'm putting away my summer items and bringing out the fall decor. And along with all the decorating comes the cleaning.

With all the leaves and dirt getting pulled in from outside it seems like I can't keep up with keeping my floor clean. This Shammy Mop has been a big help. It absorbs up to 3 times more compared to a regular mop, so instead of pushing dirty water around my floor I'm actually getting it clean. Not only that, but now you can get a 2 Pack for only $19.99!

And the dog hair that collects in my floor is rediculous. Especially when my dogs new winter coat starts to grow, it's like the shedding never ends. This Eureka Twister Vac is amazing! It has a HEPA filter that captures 99.97% of dust and pet dander. And it sucks up hair like you wouldn't believe. Right now you can buy it from just $59.99!

And I cannot rave enough about the Handheld Steam Cleaner. It literally does everything! I cannot stand the grease around my stove that collects or the scum build up in my bathtub, so I just pull out my steamer and without much effort at all, everything is clean again. For only $29.99, how can you go wrong?

When the weather permits me from getting outside, my favorite thing to do is clean. Heartland America has all the best cleaning products for a fraction of what you'll pay anywhere else.

Time to Get Comfy

When the temperature drops and everything starts to turn brown, my favorite thing to do is just lay around and relax. I love fall but sometimes the dreary weather can make me lazy.

The past few weeks in Minnesota have been fabulous. Above average temperatures makes it hard to believe that autumn is actually here. But the weatherman is forecasting 30 degrees by Thursday morning and I think it might be time to get out my heater. Space heaters are nice because they warm up the room I'm in without me having to actually turn on my heat. I get warm fast without having pay for it.

I really enjoy turning on my fireplace and just cozying up with a good book. While my husband is gone hunting this fireplace is perfect for me. No wood chopping, no flames, just plug it in, turn the switch on and before I know it I'm nice and warm. Plus it's beautiful to look at!

One of the best parts about fall is taking out my old comfortable blankets again. In the summer it's too hot for my heating blankets. But I really enjoy throwing them on my bed when it starts to get cold. A good heating blanket always makes me feel better.

I have wood floors in my house and I can never seem to keep my feet warm. A good pair of slippers is necessary. I like the slippers with the rubber sole bottoms so when I need to go out and check the mail, or take the trash out there's no need to get shoes on, my slippers work for indoors and outdoors.

When you're thinking about getting comfy this season make sure you have all the essentials. With a good heater, a nice blanket and perfect slippers, you're well on your way to a comfortable autumn.
